Masanao Takazawa: 1931-2010

Master Takazawa was born July 1931 in Nagano, Japan.  When he was 14 years old he began training with Master Toyama in Tokyo, Japan.  Master Takazawa attended Kyoiku University (now know as Tsukuba University) and holds the ranks of 6th degree in Kendo and 5th degree in Aikido (were he study with Master Ushiba). He also holds rank in Iaido, Judo, and in Chinese arts as well as being a chiropractor and a physical therapist.  Despite his impressive credentials, those who met him found him friendly and personable, and those lucky enough to practice under his supervision found him an inspiring instructor.

One must have a spirit of determination, self-discipline and humility to be successful in karate. A person who wants to take up karate must have the determination to master the art and the discipline to practice regularly.  He should never become over confident, he must have the spirit of humility that he may not think himself greater than others or go looking for a fight.”
